Japanese doubles allowed an unforgivable mistake in the localization of Modern Warfare 2

Modern Warfare 2 has become a hit in Japan, with a surprise for all dialing 39 from 40 points in the magazine Famitsu, which is usually critical of the Western game (maybe it happened because of interference by the company Square Enix … who knows?). Nevertheless, one point quite angered the Japanese fans. Yes, this is the level of the infamous “Not a word in Russian!”, Which you take on the role of a CIA agent, joined forces with the sinister Makarov and killing all in the airport. In any case, this article is not about cruelty, but of translation.

At the beginning of this scene, Makarov said the player: “Remember, not a word in Russian!”, With a view to conceal their true nationality. This point plays a key role in the further development of the game. However, Japanese experts on the localization of the game is an expression translated as “Kill them, they’re Russian!” And it absolutely does not fit with the development of the plot!

Many Japanese gamers say that it would be better they have become the original American version of the game with the correct translation. Let’s see how it will affect the game’s release in Japan.
