China bans online games after child abduction for ransom to pay a monthly subscription to play

Gentstvo Associated Press reports that China banned the advertising of online gaming and restrict access to them after several murder cases in which it appears that young people went on a crime to obtain money needed to pay for online gaming.

Ministry of Information and Communications, the country today released official materials, which states that ban most online games - is the government’s response to public discontent in society, as well as a series of articles in the press, which spoke of the negative impact of online gaming on the younger generation.

It is reported that the Ministry has temporarily suspended the licensing of online games and suspended most of the existing licenses. Also, providers have been issued a special order, which stated the need to turn off a significant part of gambling services from 11 pm today.

Last year in Vietnam there were several murders and robberies, which were organized by young people in order to obtain money to pay for games. In one of the most shocking cases of 15-year-old girl was sentenced to 10 years in prison for kidnapping a 4-year-old child from the neighbor’s house and demand a ransom of $ 10 to pay a monthly subscription to play.
