Built Borderlands release Duke Nukem Forever

President studio Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford (Randy Pitchford) confirmed that his company is developing the game Duke Nukem Forever.

According to him, the new shooter will be available in 2011. This Pitchford said during his speech at the “Penny Arcade Expo Prime (PAX Prime), held in Seattle. The publisher of the project is the company Take-Two Interactive.

Chapter Gearbox noted that the game creates for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and PC. At PAX Prime developers brought a demo version of Duke Nukem Forever, which were able to play all comers.

Journalists note that Pitchford familiar with the TV series Duke Nukem. Before founding his own studio, he worked in the 3D Realms over the complement to the PC-version of the game Duke Nukem 3D. Add that Gearbox Software is known for TV series Brothers in Arms. In addition, in 2009 the studio released shooter Borderlands, received good marks from the press and in good demand.

The official announcement of Duke Nukem Forever was held in 1997. This shooter is one of the most famous long-term construction in the gaming industry. Studio 3D Realms has repeatedly postponed release of the game, referring to the various difficulties that allegedly arose in the development process.

In May 2009, there were reports that the leadership of 3D Realms decided to close the studio due to financial difficulties. Later, the company Take-Two Interactive, which owns the rights to publish Duke Nukem Forever, has sued the Apogee Software (legal name of 3D Realms). The petition stated that the developers have not fulfilled their obligations under the contract, because 12 years have not been able to create a DNF.

3D Realms CEO George Brussard (George Broussard) denied rumors about closing the studio. However, he admitted that the team responsible for developing Duke Nukem Forever, was dissolved May 6, 2009 due to lack of funding.
