The company Linden Lab, developer of the popular virtual universe Second Life, today announced plans to open source the server side of the universe. Recall that about two months ago were open source client side. The company said that this step will launch a long-standing company’s ideas - developing a fully distributed 3D-network, like the vast virtual city. In Linden Lab noticed that the new system should be built on an inter-programmatic collaboration, and it should not be a single owner. The developers say it will be something like three-dimensional Internet.
